What is meditation?

Meditation is a state of calming your mind in order to access a more solid connection and foundation of self. Any activity that involves tuning out your focus of the world around you, and that which creates a shift towards your ‘inner self’ is meditative.

What if I can’t meditate?

Everyone can meditate. You may think that your mind is too active, and that you can’t ‘switch off’. You may never have know how to create a state of your own purposeful relaxation. By practicing using your imagination to focus on the subject at hand, you’ll discover the outer world fades out, and you gain a greater connection to yourself. This connection then creates a peaceful state of ‘self-support’, which activates the benefits of meditation.

How does one meditate?

Meditation can be performed by anyone, no matter how busy your mind may be. Simply by stopping your outer focus and using your imagination to focus on the details of a guided meditation, or by focusing on your breathing (for example), will have the effect of putting you in a more meditative (relaxed) state. Meditation is performed by sitting upright (spine straight) or lying down. You may have your eyes open or closed; open if you’re focusing on one object (to tune out outer stimulus), or closed if you’re listening to a guided meditation. It can be an interesting exercise to try both methods and see which works for you the best..

What if I keep having ‘other’ thoughts in meditation?

Rather than battling with yourself, or becoming frustrated, it’s a simple procedure to simply keep bringing yourself back to the details or focus of your imagination. It’s normal to lose your meditation from time to time, and the more you train yourself to simply bring your thoughts back on track, the easier it becomes to meditate.

What are the benefits of meditation?

The benefits of meditation are numerous. They are:

  • Improvement of general health
  • Improvement in concentration
  • Lowers oxygen necessity, yet oxygenates the cells
  • Heals and energises internal organs
  • Increases blood flow, with less heart activity (reduces blood pressure)
  • Relieves stress, anxiety and depression
  • Enhances the immune system
  • Promotes healthy cells, skin, hair, muscle tone and youth retention
  • Builds self-confidence

Additionally meditation provides you with a greater connection, knowing and ability to emotionally support self, which is vital in order to create an empowered and independently successful life.

How often should I meditate?

Generally speaking, meditating every day for at least 10 minutes will promote wonderful benefits.
